About the role

Original posting from Ovael

Robotics Engineer — Humanoid & Quadruped Robotics Company: OVAEL Location: Remote / Hybrid / On-site opportunities available Type: Full-time, contract, or founding engineering role OVAEL is building next-generation robotics systems, including humanoid robots and robotic quadrupeds designed for real-world field use, inspection, logistics, industrial support, and advanced autonomous operations. We are looking for a hands-on Robotics Engineer who can help take concepts from design to working prototypes. This role is for someone who understands mechanical systems, motors, sensors, control systems, embedded hardware, and real-world robot testing. Responsibilities Design, build, and test humanoid or quadruped robotic platforms from early prototype to functional system. Develop robotic mobility systems including walking, balance, joint control, actuation, and motion planning. Work with motors, servos, actuators, batteries, sensors, cameras, IMUs, lidar, and embedded control boards. Build mechanical assemblies, test rigs, wiring systems, and prototype frames. Develop or integrate software for robot control, navigation, perception, and autonomous behavior. Test robots in real-world environments and improve performance based on data. Work closely with the founder and engineering team to define the robot architecture, component stack, and development roadmap. Document designs, test results, failures, improvements, and engineering decisions clearly. Required Skills Experience with robotics, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or embedded systems. Strong understanding of motors, actuators, sensors, control systems, and robot movement. Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, or similar. Experience with Python, C++, ROS, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Jetson, or other embedded platforms. Ability to prototype, troubleshoot, test, and improve hardware quickly. Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to work in an early-stage startup environment. Nice to Have Experience building humanoid robots, robotic dogs, drones, autonomous vehicles, or industrial robots. Experience with ROS 2, computer vision, SLAM, reinforcement learning, or robot simulation. Experience with 3D printing, CNC parts, carbon fiber, aluminum frames, or rapid prototyping. Experience with field robotics, inspection robots, logistics robots, or defense-grade hardware. Understanding of battery systems, power management, waterproofing, ruggedization, and thermal design. What We Are Looking For We are not looking for someone who only talks about robotics. We are looking for a builder. The ideal candidate can take an idea, break it into engineering steps, choose the right parts, build the prototype, test it, find what fails, and improve it until it works. This is a high-responsibility role for someone who wants to help build a robotics company from the ground up. Why Join OVAEL Work directly on humanoid and quadruped robotics. Help define the first generation of OVAEL robotic systems. Join an ambitious early-stage company focused on advanced robotics and autonomous machines. Opportunity to grow into a lead engineering or founding technical role. How to Apply Send your resume, portfolio, GitHub, CAD work, robotics videos, or previous prototype examples to: Ayden@ovael.com
