Overview
Job 2667 - SCADA and Controls Engineer - Contract – Located in Los Angeles County, California.
The Automation Engineer will be a key resource for the Client's manufacturing plant, supporting advanced automation and control systems. This role is part of the Plant Engineering organization and reports directly to the Plant Engineering Manager. The position focuses on designing, programming, and maintaining automation systems, SCADA platforms, and vision systems to ensure high reliability and compliance in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and lead technical projects related to facility and manufacturing equipment across all site businesses.
- Develop advanced troubleshooting capabilities for PLCs, SCADA systems, and vision systems to support day-to-day operations.
- Program and maintain Rockwell Factory Talk View SE SCADA systems, including screen development and scripting.
- Integrate PLC-based vision systems for quality inspection and serialization.
- Develop and maintain SQL databases for data collection, reporting, and SCADA integration.
- Create custom SCADA reports using Visual Studio and scripting languages (Python, VBScript, or similar).
- Respond to daily business needs (safety, quality, service, cost) while employing Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Lead strategic improvement initiatives and continuous improvement activities for the plant.
- Support Systems Technicians with tactical projects and technical growth.
- Rockwell HMI screen development and configuration.
- Implement and program Ignition SCADA systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in automation engineering within Medical Device Manufacturing or Pharmaceutical Industry.
- Strong programming knowledge in Allen-Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000), Factory Talk View ME/SE, and Ether Net/IP networking.
