ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the design and implementation of Substation SCADA and telecommunications systems, providing technical direction for complex and high
‑
impact projects
Serves as a senior technical resource to field personnel and contractors, providing expert guidance on the installation, operation, maintenance, commissioning, and troubleshooting of SCADA systems, fiber optics, Ethernet networking, and serial communications.
Demonstrates advanced understanding of computer, control, and communication system architectures and software; proactively evaluate and apply new technologies and approaches to improve system performance and reliability.
Partners cross

functionally with engineers, operations, IT, and external utilities to resolve technical issues, manage dependencies, and ensure project schedules, scope, and deliverables are met.Attends meetings and training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills.
Oversees and maintains departmental databases related to SCADA system documentation and fiber optic infrastructure, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with engineering standards.
Performs and coordinates NERC CIP compliance activities for department assets, serving as a subject

matter expert and ensuring conformance with regulatory and internal requirements.
Develops, maintains, and continuously improves technical policies, procedures, standards, and work instructions to support safe, reliable, and compliant system operations.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required with a major in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred, or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Minimum of six (6) years of related engineering experience.
Co-op/Intern experience at a utility preferred.
Proficient knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, and computer hardware.
Sound analytical, problem-solving, organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside of the Company.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to multi-task.
Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
Ability to learn and utilize job specific software.
Basic understanding of Geospatial Information Systems. (preferred)
Basic understanding of optical transport and wireless systems technologies, including both TDM and IP based communication systems. (preferred)
Working knowledge of SCADA protocols, networking, and serial communication standards. (preferred)
Familiar with electric drawings, symbology, and documentation. (preferred)
