Role description:

Arcadis actively seeking an Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineer with 3 or

more years experience, to join our Water Division team in Wakefield, MA or

Middletown, CT and be part of a larger dynamic SCADA / I&C team engaged in

serving customers in the Northeast Region.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to

join our team and be involved in projects with a variety of SCADA and

Instrumentation and Controls automation and technology needs. Position will

provide SCADA/I&C technical and system integration services for diverse clients

and projects in the industrial & municipal water and wastewater treatment

facilities, with support from one of the best-qualified consulting firms in the

country and a strong nationally recognized technical staff.

Role accountabilities:

Specifications: You will be expected to prepare engineering specifications,

drawings, and performs calculations in support of engineering activities

involving control systems for various unit processes in water/wastewater; this

will include preparing reports, studies, and calculations.

Cross-Collaboration: As part of a large company, coordination must take place

with process/mechanical, electrical and other disciplines as needed. On a

smaller scale, you will need to review manufacturer information to assure

compliance with specifications.

Programming: In addition to selection and sizing of Instrumentation, control

devices you will be involved in the development of P&IDs, basic control

schematics, basic panel layout diagrams, instrument installation details, and

plans. Part of this role will also involve configuring unit process control

logic in PLCs/OITs on a variety of platforms as well as configuring graphical

HMIs, data archiving and report solutions on a variety of platforms.

Travel: While travel will be minimal, you will be expected to travel to client

sites and other Arcadis office locations as needed; this includes short term

travel in the region for project meetings, site visits, etc.

Project Ownership: Manage small projects or tasks that are part of larger

projects, this includes the ability to multi-task on several assignments at

once. Demonstration of skill & aptitude will lead to more responsibility.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of overall experience
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or

related engineering field.

  • EIT certification, or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire and ability to

obtain Professional registration when eligible

  • Basic Knowledge of PLC controls, SCADA and IT and field networks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project and Outlook).
  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record and is willing to travel

(25%).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Control Signals and Systems or Instrumentation Classes, Water/Wastewater

Process Control Classes, PLC/HMI coursework.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Experience on water and wastewater projects.
  • PLC/HMI programming experience.
