Scientist II / Sr Scientist I, Analytical R&D
Full‑time position with a salary range of USD 84,500 – USD 162,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Performs method development, testing procedures, and implementation of analytical control strategies to advance drug discovery candidates with some guidance.
- Applies analytical separation and detection modes for complex impurity profiling of pharmaceutical products to further the understanding of emerging cGMP manufacturing processes.
- Contributes to the analytical aspects of a project while working with other functional areas to advance projects through the development pipeline.
- Utilizes a range of analytical techniques to conduct research and development studies related to small‑molecule drug products, active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, starting materials, impurities, and impurity profiling.
- Supports new product development with method development and validation, technical transfer packages, and generation of technical data in support of regulatory requirements with some guidance.
- Works autonomously and productively in the laboratory, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with a supervisor.
- Formulates conclusions and designs follow‑on experiments based on multidisciplinary data.
- Processes, interprets, and visualizes data to facilitate project team decisions.
- Communicates and collaborates with cross‑functional groups and departments.
- Demonstrates scientific rigor, initiative, and creativity in research or development activities while maintaining a high level of productivity in the lab.
- Raises the bar and is never satisfied with the status quo.
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, and GxP compliance where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or equivalent education, with typically 7 or more years’ experience, or Master’s Degree with typically 5 or more years’ experience.
- Strong technical background in analytical chemistry with excellent analytical problem‑solving skills and the ability to develop and troubleshoot analytical methods with minimal guidance.
- Hands‑on experience with chromatography (HPLC, UPLC, GC) and spectroscopic techniques.
- Self‑motivated, hard‑working, detail‑oriented individual able to work in a fast‑paced team environment.
- Expert knowledge of Waters Empower CDS and experience with SLIMS (or similar LIMS systems) for electronic data management.
- Experience with computerized data handling systems.
- High‑quality written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.
- Practical knowledge of organic structure, functional groups, chemistry, and modern spectroscopic techniques as applied to small‑molecule analytical analysis.
- Builds strong relationships with peers and cross‑functionally with partners outside the team to enable higher performance.
- Learns quickly, grasps the essence, and can change course swiftly when indicated.
- Creates an open, learning environment, receptive to suggestions and experimentation for improvement.
