The A*STAR Skin Research Labs (Skin Omics group) is seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist with expertise in metabolomics and lipidomics to lead and support analytical research on skin metabolism. The successful candidate will work with state-of-the-art LC-MS platforms to profile, quantify, and interpret lipid and metabolite signatures from skin and microbiome systems, contributing to the discovery of novel bioactive compounds and
metabolic pathways.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop the method, optimise and execute metabolomics and lipidomics experiments using LC-MS/MS techniques (targeted and untargeted).
- Perform data processing, statistical analysis, and metabolite identification using specialised software tools.
- Interpret complex lipidomic datasets to elucidate biochemical mechanisms relevant to skin biology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including biologists and chemists to integrate findings with molecular and phenotypic data.
- Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments (LC-MS, UPLC, etc.) and ensure quality control in data acquisition.
- Contribute to scientific writing, reports, publications, and presentations.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related discipline.
- Strong expertise in metabolomics or lipidomics, with demonstrated experience in LC-MSbased workflows.
- Hands-on experience in data analysis using software such as Compound Discoverer, XCMS, or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of lipid biochemistry and metabolic pathways.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Proven track record in lipidomics or bioanalytical method development.
- Experience in quantitative metabolomics, stable isotope tracing, or MS imaging would be an advantage.
