DOF Canada is currently seeking multiple candidates for
Second Engineer
positions to work on Canadian Flagged Offshore Support Vessels. Offshore work schedule will be based on a 28-day rotation. Tasks can include, but are not limited to:
Reporting to the Vessel Chief Engineer, the Second Engineer is responsible for taking control of the daily running of the mechanical installations onboard the ship, maintenance and repair work, utilising the crew and systems on board, to maintain the vessel in a seaworthy condition;
Planned and unplanned maintenance of the mechanical installations on-board the ship;
Leading Engine Room Personnel in Risk Assessments and toolbox talks;
Assist bunkering the vessel;
Engine room Watchkeeper;
Ensure Engine Logbook and Oil Record Books are updated and kept in presentable manner
Education and Certificate Requirements:
Post-Secondary Education in Marine Engineering (or Equivalent)
Transport Canada Second Class Engineer Motor Ship
STCW MED BS, PSC, AFF
Marine Advanced First Aid
Valid Seafarers Medical
Valid Canadian Passport
Certificate of Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats would be considered an asset
Experience / Knowledge:
Experience on Offshore Support Vessels, including diesel electric and hybrid propulsion systems is required.
Experience aboard large AHTS will be considered an asset
A high-level knowledge of ISM, Transport Canada, MARPOL and all applicable legislative requirements for operating vessels in Canada
Working knowledge with diesel electric engine would be an asset
Demonstrable experience in management role or lead position within offshore industry
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
Capable of discussing issues and topics of importance at every level
Good organizational skills and ability to multitask
