Our client is a global technology‑led consulting firm that supports enterprise growth with end‑to‑end services, from AI strategy formulation through to cutting‑edge AI implementation.

As a Senior AI Engineer in the Applied AI & Client Solutions team, you will sit at the intersection of cutting‑edge AI and real‑world financial services problems.

You will design and implement next‑generation LLM‑based solutions that drive large‑scale automation, operational efficiency and data‑driven decision‑making for financial services clients, acting as the technical lead on key client engagements. You will work closely with consultants and business stakeholders to turn AI strategy into production systems.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build and deploy production‑grade AI applications powered by state‑of‑the‑art LLMs, including autonomous agent workflows with planning, memory and tool‑use capabilities.
  • Develop advanced dialogue management and multi‑agent systems for complex conversational AI, with a strong focus on user experience and real‑world applicability in financial services.
  • Implement Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector search solutions (e.g. Pinecone, PostgreSQL, Azure AI Search) to enhance contextual understanding and knowledge retrieval across large document and data estates.
  • Apply prompt engineering, model selection and optimisation techniques to deliver robust, high‑performing AI solutions for enterprise workloads.
  • Develop and maintain APIs and microservices to integrate LLM systems with existing enterprise systems, data pipelines and downstream applications.
  • Architect scalable, maintainable AI systems following modern engineering best practices, including automated testing, monitoring, observability and secure deployment standards.
  • Engage directly with business and technology stakeholders at leading financial institutions to understand requirements and translate them into practical AI solution designs and implementation roadmaps.
  • Scope and define AI use cases, solution architectures and implementation approaches aligned with client objectives, regulatory constraints and risk appetite.
  • Lead AI pilots and POCs from problem definition through prototyping, evaluation, deployment and iterative improvement, ensuring tangible, measurable client impact.
  • Present solutions, prototypes and findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, educating clients on AI capabilities, limitations and best practices.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with consultants, designers and engineers across the global offices to deliver integrated AI solutions, including emerging areas such as multimodal AI and agent collaboration.

What we’re looking for

Education & mindset

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher; a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Mathematics, Statistics or Information Systems is preferred.
  • Genuine passion for driving corporate and societal transformation through AI innovation, with a strong sense of ownership and client impact.

Technical experience

  • 3–5+ years of practical experience in software engineering or AI/ML development, ideally building production systems in complex domains.
  • Strong, production‑level Python development skills.
  • Hands‑on experience building and integrating applications that utilise modern generative AI (LLMs), including experience with major model providers and common frameworks for RAG/agentic systems.
  • Expertise in prompt engineering and optimisation techniques for conversational and agentic AI.
  • Knowledge of vector database technologies such as Pinecone, PostgreSQL and Azure AI Search; experience designing and tuning RAG pipelines is a strong plus.
  • Solid understanding of modern software engineering best practices: TDD, version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines and containerisation (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience building APIs and microservices (e.g. FastAPI, Flask, or similar) and integrating with enterprise systems and data platforms is highly desirable.

Soft skills

  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical thinking, with a structured approach to breaking down complex, ambiguous problems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in fast‑paced environments and small, high‑calibre teams.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in Mandarin and English, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and senior executives.
  • High attention to detail in AI application design, development, testing and monitoring.
  • Strong adaptability and innovative mindset in the rapidly evolving AI landscape, with curiosity to stay on top of new models, tools and best practices.
  • Prior experience in client‑facing consulting, pre‑sales or solution engineering roles in financial services is a plus but not mandatory.
