Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Closing of Singapore Life Ltd

He/She will prepare journals such as bank charges, merchant fees, bank revaluation every month end closing.

  • Bank Reconciliation

He/She will perform minimally 20 bank reconciliations using bank tool on monthly basis. He/She ensures reconciling items are properly explained, follow-up with relevant stakeholders within a reasonable timeline. He/She will collaborate with the vendor to onboard new bank reconciliation, resolve discrepancies, update matching rules. He/She will monitor service performance against SLAs, proactively addressing issues and escalating where necessary.

  • Cash Management

He/She is also responsible for managing the cashflow across all Singlife’s business in Singapore to ensure optimal usage of the cash float in order to maximise returns. He/she performs daily cash projections to ensure that entries are entered into the system timely and accurately.

  • Documentation of key process and controls

He/She will update process and controls on quarterly basis by actively looking for improvement in workflow with a view of minimising control weakness, whilst improving efficiency and ensuring accuracy and integrity in the reconciliations. If there is any inspection, he/she will play the key support member for bank reconciliation to assist internal auditors or second line of defence.

  • Audit

He/She will assist his/her reporting line for external and internal audit in relation to bank reconciliations.

  • Adhoc tasks

To participate in ad-hoc assignments or role rotation within Investment Accounting, Fund Operations and Cash Management team.

Requirements

  • Experience
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated with ability to work independently and sometimes in a non-structured environment
  • Ability to come up with “out of the box” solutions that can be presented in a structured and precise manner
  • Attention to details
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good working knowledge of AS400, and Oracle
  • Versatile and resourceful to resolve issues
  • Experience in process documentation and software tester
  • Education
  • Academic: At least Diploma in accounting
  • Professional Certification(s): NIL (preferred / mandatory)
  • Complete Fit & Proper assessments successfully on an annual basis at minimum, or when other adjunct appointments are made
