THE ROLE:

• Building the Xapien system’s automate LLM research, entity resolution, and report generation

• Designing and implementing evals for accuracy

• Optimising the system for cost and speed

• Investigating and resolving issues

• Using Claude Code by default (we rarely write code ourselves)

• Working with Product to concieve and implement new features

Requirements:

• Comfortable in fast-paced environment - previous startup experience or prestigious tech background building fast prototypes - we make decisions and try new ideas quickly!

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills - we want everyone at Xapien to be a joy to work with!

• Strong analytical/numerical reasoning and statistics background - professional experience and ideally degree from top uni in computer science, maths, engineering, science - a lot of our work involves careful analytic reasoning about the best way to solve a problem

• Proficient and experienced using Claude Code, Codex or other equivalent agentic coding

• Industry experience building production LLM-based systems - experienced in prompt engineering, RAG, Agentic

• Creative problem solving, high-ownership and high-agency - our engineers are leaders not followers

• Domain-focus and focussed on application not theory - our engineers don’t solve abstract problems, we focus on real solutions to the problems that matter most to our customers

Nice to have:

• Deep understanding of LLM internals and AI field - training, architecture, optimisation
