Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing and innovative industrial solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Controls Engineer to join their team in Raleigh, North Carolina, US . This role is pivotal in driving the design, implementation, and optimization of automated systems within our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in designing, programming, and troubleshooting complex automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and SCADA systems. You will work closely with mechanical engineers, project managers, and operations teams to deliver cutting-edge automation solutions that enhance efficiency, improve product quality, and ensure operational safety. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, a deep understanding of industrial control technologies, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. You will be responsible for ensuring seamless integration of automation solutions and providing ongoing support to maintain peak operational performance.
Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, program, and commission PLC-based control systems (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens). Develop and implement HMI/SCADA solutions for process visualization and control. Integrate robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) into automated production lines. Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and control system documentation. Perform system troubleshooting and provide timely resolution of automation issues during production and commissioning. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define automation requirements and specifications. Develop and execute validation and testing plans for automated equipment. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA 79), and company policies. Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel. Stay current with advancements in automation technology and propose innovative solutions. Manage vendor relationships for automation components and services. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering. Proficiency in programming major PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Siemens S7). Experience with HMI/SCADA software packages (e.g., FactoryTalk View, WinCC). Knowledge of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP). Experience with robotic programming and integration is highly desirable. Strong understanding of electrical design principles, safety standards, and control system architecture. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
