Senior Automation Engineer – Trading Finance (Long Term Contract)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to support the transformation of back-office trading finance processes across APAC. This role focuses on improving efficiency and accuracy by automating manual, spreadsheet-driven workflows within Back Office, Accounting, and Risk functions.
You will work closely with business stakeholders to design and implement practical automation solutions, including the use of emerging AI tools where relevant.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse existing workflows across trade operations, accounting, and risk functions to identify automation opportunities
- Design and implement solutions to improve efficiency in processes such as:Trade and position reconciliation Margin and broker reconciliation Cash forecasting and FX reconciliation Invoice generation and settlements Trade confirmation generation and standardization
- Develop automation using tools such as Power Platform (e.g. Power Automate, Power Query), Excel (e.g. VBA, Office Scripts), and Python
- Apply AI-enabled tools (e.g. Copilot or similar technologies) to support: Reporting and commentary generation Data extraction from documents (e.g. invoices, broker statements) Data validation and anomaly detection
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Back Office, Accounting, and Risk teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions
- Support process standardization and documentation to enhance operational consistency and control
Requirements
- Relevant experience in trading finance, banking, commodities, or related environments
- Understanding of operational processes such as reconciliation, settlements, invoicing, and cash/FX management
- Experience in automation using tools such as Power Platform, Excel automation, or Python
- Familiarity with AI-assisted tools or automation technologies is advantageous
- Ability to analyze business processes and deliver practical, scalable solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders across functions
