Our client, a leading innovator in automotive technology based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US , is searching for a highly accomplished Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to lead critical design and development projects. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, analysis, and validation of complex mechanical systems and components for automotive applications, including engine, transmission, chassis, and suspension systems. Utilize advanced CAD/CAE tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, ANSYS, Abaqus) for detailed design, simulation, and stress analysis. Develop and execute rigorous test plans for component and system validation, including performance, durability, and environmental testing. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, software development, manufacturing, and program management, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems. Troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering issues encountered during prototype development and production phases. Contribute to the development of new technologies and innovative solutions for automotive applications. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations for management and project stakeholders. Ensure designs meet all relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and reliability. Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality engineering outcomes. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in automotive mechanical engineering, with a strong emphasis on powertrain, chassis, or vehicle dynamics. Proven expertise in 3D modeling, simulation, and analysis software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, ANSYS, MATLAB/Simulink). In-depth knowledge of material science, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and structural analysis as applied to automotive systems. Experience with automotive testing methodologies and data acquisition systems. Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and DFM principles. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to tackle complex engineering challenges. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams. Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers. Familiarity with automotive industry standards and best practices.
