Our client, a global leader in automotive innovation, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to join their advanced R&D center in **San Francisco, California, US**. This role is critical in the design, development, and integration of complex automotive systems, with a focus on next-generation vehicle technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical engineering, software development, and systems integration, coupled with a deep understanding of automotive standards and vehicle architectures. You will lead cross-functional teams, drive technical solutions, and contribute significantly to the realization of cutting-edge automotive features and platforms.

Responsibilities:

Lead the system-level design, development, and integration of automotive electronic and software components. Define system requirements, architecture, and interfaces for new vehicle features and platforms. Collaborate with hardware and software development teams to ensure seamless integration of components. Develop and execute comprehensive system validation and verification plans. Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues throughout the product development lifecycle. Ensure compliance with automotive standards (e.g., AUTOSAR, ISO 26262). Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on system design and implementation. Manage technical risks and develop mitigation strategies. Work closely with suppliers and technology partners to define and integrate external components. Contribute to the definition of future vehicle architectures and technology roadmaps. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for management and project stakeholders. Stay abreast of emerging automotive technologies, trends, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive systems engineering or a closely related field. Proven experience in designing, developing, and integrating complex automotive systems. Strong understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, CAN/LIN/Ethernet communication protocols, and embedded systems. Proficiency in systems engineering methodologies and tools (e.g., SysML, DOORS). Experience with safety-critical systems and functional safety (ISO 26262) is highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Familiarity with software development processes (Agile, Waterfall) is a plus. Experience with simulation tools and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
