This role supports the design, documentation, testing, and sustainment of control systems and OT networking solutions used within large-scale data center technology environments. The engineer will work closely with internal engineering teams as an extension of their organization, contributing to control system design efforts without full autonomous ownership. The role involves developing extensive technical and design documentation, supporting lab-based and on-site testing activities, and providing subject-matter expertise across OT systems. Hands-on work will include interaction with PLCs, SCADA systems, and building management platforms, while testing execution will follow established plans and instructions. The position requires regular presence in Sunnyvale-based labs and periodic travel to data center sites depending on operational needs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 5+ years of experience supporting the design, integration, and implementation of OT control systems and related networking infrastructure
  • Strong controls engineering background, with hands-on experience supporting SCADA systems and PLC-based environments
  • Working knowledge of OT networking concepts, including system integration, architecture, and testing within mission‑critical or industrial environments
  • In-depth understanding of industrial control system architectures and OT protocols, including:
  • BACnet • Modbus • OPC / OPC-UA
  • Hands-on experience with industrial control hardware, including PLCs, relays, and I/O modules, and their integration into OT networking layers
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and produce technical documentation, including system specifications, conceptual schematics, and architecture drawings

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting data center technology systems or other large-scale infrastructure environments • Background in OT systems within manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Experience with IEC 61850, including substations, power distribution, and utility or high-voltage environments
  • Networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIP
  • Hands-on exposure to OT networking hardware from Cisco, Juniper, or Arista
