ROLE MISSION
- Drive manufacturing and product‑cost excellence across the group by building and maintaining a robust, scalable costing framework that accurately reflects factory‑level costs and product structures.
- Turn manufacturing data into clear, actionable cost and profitability insights for Operations, Engineering, and Procurement, enabling better pricing, margin control, and inventory management decisions.
- Support continuous improvement and margin enhancement by linking cost analysis, RFQ costing, and inventory control to on‑floor performance and strategic factory‑level initiatives.
ROLE SUMMARY
- Take a key role in building and running a robust, group‑wide product costing framework for our EMS operations.
- Act as the central finance partner to Operations, Engineering and Procurement, turning manufacturing data into clear cost and profitability insights.
- Lead product cost analysis, RFQ costing and inventory efficiency initiatives that directly support margin improvement and operational excellence across factories.Report to Operation Director
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, maintain and continuously enhance standard product costing (materials, labour, overhead) for multiple product families.
- Perform detailed analysis of standard vs actual costs, explain variances and recommend practical actions to the Operation Director and management.
- Prepare regular inventory valuation and analysis (aging, excess & obsolete, inventory turns) and ensure proper reconciliation with the general ledger.
- Participate in and review physical stocktakes / cycle counts, ensuring accuracy of inventory records and timely adjustments.
- Review and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings in the ERP system so that costing reflects real manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with Engineering and Production to quantify the cost impact of engineering changes, process changes and productivity projects.
- Maintain high data integrity for all costing‑related master data within ERP and related systems.
- Support RFQ processes by preparing product cost estimates, scenario analyses and benchmarking quoted costs against actual performance.
- Contribute to annual budgets and rolling forecasts for manufacturing costs, including materials, direct labour and overhead absorption.
- Track and interpret cost trends (material prices, labour rates, overheads) and highlight risks and opportunities in a timely manner.
- Partner with Operations and Procurement to identify cost‑reduction and efficiency initiatives, and quantify their financial benefits.
- Analyse production efficiency, scrap and labour utilisation to support continuous improvement on the shop floor.
- Prepare clear, insightful cost and KPI reports that enable senior management to make fast, data‑driven decisions.
IDEAL CANDIDATES
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline.
- 3+ years relevant experience in cost accounting / costing analysis preferably within EMS or a related manufacturing environment.
- Proven success in establishing or upgrading product costing frameworks in scalable manufacturing companies.
- Strong exposure to full‑cycle product costing from RFQ / quotation stage through to post‑launch actual cost benchmarking.
- Solid knowledge of inventory management, with visible achievements in improving inventory turns and optimising stock levels.
