Senior Data Engineer (Data Migration Specialist)

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer with over 10 years of experience, with 5 years of expertise in designing, delivering, and assuring end-to-end data migration solutions within the Energy & Utilities domain. This role requires strong technical proficiency in modern cloud data platforms, particularly Snowflake and Azure DataOps ecosystems, along with a deep understanding of domain-specific data models. You will play a critical role in transforming legacy data systems into scalable, cloud-based migration solution, ensuring data integrity, quality, and governance throughout migration programs. Key Responsibilities Data Migration & Engineering Review and assure the existing designed and built data migration solution and ensure its a scalable, secure, and high-performance data migration frameworks. Lead end-to-end data migration lifecycle: discovery, profiling, mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation. Develop ETL/ELT pipelines using modern cloud-native tools. Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across migration stages. Cloud Data Platform Development Build and optimise data solutions on Snowflake and Microsoft Azure. Implement data ingestion pipelines for batch and real-time processing. Design dimensional and canonical data models aligned with business needs. DataOps & Automation Implement DataOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring. Use tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD frameworks for deployment automation. Establish observability, logging, and alerting mechanisms for data pipelines. Domain Expertise (Energy & Utilities) Work with datasets related to: Asset and network management Telemetry and SCADA data Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory frameworks. Data Governance & Quality Define and enforce data quality rules and validation frameworks. Implement metadata management, lineage tracking, and data cataloging. Collaborate with governance teams to ensure compliance with data policies. Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers. Communicate migration progress, risks, and outcomes effectively.
