Senior Data Scientist - Big Data & Fraud Analytics

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Data Scientist for a contract opportunity with one of our major telecommunications clients in Greenwood Village, CO. Overview: This role sits within a high-impact team focused on fraud detection and anomaly identification, working at the intersection of data science and data engineering. You will play a key role in building and enhancing machine learning models that detect suspicious usage patterns and protect both the business and customer experience. This is a hands-on role requiring experience with large-scale data processing, model development, and production deployment. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and iterate on machine learning models focused on fraud detection and anomaly detection
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) on large, complex datasets
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines to support model development and deployment
• Work with big data technologies to process and analyze high-volume datasets
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business problems into data-driven solutions
• Contribute to deploying models into production environments and supporting ongoing performance improvements
• Write clean, production-quality code and support testing and validation processes

Requirements

• Strong experience in data science and data engineering (hybrid skillset)
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and model development
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing
• Experience working within AWS environments
• Strong experience working with large, batch-based datasets
• Ability to build, evaluate, and iterate on machine learning models
• Experience writing production-level code and supporting data pipelines
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
• Ability to balance innovation with working within existing systems and frameworks
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Scala
• Exposure to Databricks or similar platforms
• Background in fraud detection, anomaly detection, or risk analytics
• Experience working with event-based or user behavior data
• Prior experience in telecommunications or similar large-scale environments (not required)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
