Position Purpose:
Join our team as a Senior Data Scientist, where you will lead pioneering data science projects that enhance business profitability, streamline operations, and elevate customer satisfaction. You will play a key role in shaping the advanced analytics framework at Home Depot, driving informed decision-making. Your expertise will help identify and capitalize on business opportunities, leveraging data science for competitive advantage across various specializations, including optimization, computer vision, recommendation systems, search, or natural language processing (NLP).
In this role, you will lead data science initiatives, collaborating closely with project managers to prioritize tasks, manage workloads, and mentor junior data scientists on your team. You will present actionable insights and recommendations to leadership and business partners, clearly articulating the impact and benefits of your proposed solutions. Additionally, you will contribute to building a skilled data science team by participating in the recruitment process and assessing staffing needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- 35% Solution Development - Design and implement robust algorithms and models using large datasets to generate valuable business insights. Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, preparing comprehensive reports and presentations on your project progress and insights.
- 30% Project Management & Team Support - Collaborate with project teams to set project goals, prioritize work, and uphold quality standards. Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members, assist in distributing workload, and support recruitment efforts.
- 20% Business Collaboration - Utilize your extensive business knowledge to inform solution approaches, fostering trust and collaboration with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Share your expertise on advanced analytics to educate colleagues across various levels.
- 15% Technical Exploration & Development - Stay updated on key developments in data science and enhance your technical skills. Work on continuous improvement by creating reusable solutions and documenting best practices to ensure efficiency in future projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.).
- 6+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficient in a modern scripting language (preferably Python).
- Experience with SQL and data visualization software (preferably Tableau).
- Strong background in statistical techniques for business insight generation.
- Experience in prescriptive modeling, including optimization, computer vision, recommendations, search, or NLP.
- Proficiency in predictive modeling, data mining, and data analysis.
