Senior Data Scientist - Education Technology

Our client, a pioneering EdTech company dedicated to transforming learning experiences, is looking for a highly analytical and innovative Senior Data Scientist to join their thriving team in Austin, Texas, US . This role is essential in leveraging data to understand student engagement, optimize learning outcomes, and drive product development. You will be instrumental in developing sophisticated models, conducting deep-dive analyses, and communicating actionable insights to stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Design and implement data-driven experiments to measure the impact of educational interventions and product features. Develop and deploy machine learning models for student performance prediction, personalized learning paths, and content recommendation. Perform complex data analysis on large datasets related to student behavior, learning patterns, and platform usage. Extract, clean, and transform data from various sources, ensuring data quality and integrity. Develop insightful dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics and trends for educational stakeholders. Collaborate with product managers, instructional designers, and software engineers to translate data insights into actionable product improvements and pedagogical strategies. Communicate complex analytical findings and model results clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and educational technology. Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the development of best practices within the data science team. Identify opportunities for leveraging data to enhance educational efficacy and user experience. Contribute to the technical architecture and strategy for data collection and analysis. Ensure data privacy and security best practices are followed throughout all data activities.

Qualifications:

Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Education, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data science, with a strong focus on predictive modeling and statistical analysis. Proven experience in the education or EdTech sector is highly desirable. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch). Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Solid understanding of statistical methods, experimental design, and machine learning algorithms. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
