This fully remote position allows you to leverage your expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and big data technologies to develop sophisticated models that inform critical business decisions across **Austin, Texas, US**, and beyond. Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and validate advanced statistical and machine learning models for financial forecasting, risk assessment, and portfolio optimization. Analyze large, complex datasets from diverse sources, identifying trends, patterns, and actionable insights relevant to financial performance. Collaborate with business stakeholders, including portfolio managers, risk officers, and product developers, to define analytical requirements and project objectives. Design and execute A/B tests and other experiments to evaluate model performance and business impact. Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and financial modeling techniques. Build and maintain robust data pipelines and data processing frameworks to support modeling efforts. Communicate complex analytical findings and model recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences through reports, presentations, and visualizations. Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team's overall technical growth and best practices. Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and scalability of developed models. Work closely with engineering teams to deploy models into production environments. Identify opportunities to leverage new data sources and technologies to enhance analytical capabilities. Contribute to the development of data governance strategies and ensure data quality. Perform ad-hoc data analysis to support business inquiries and strategic initiatives. Stay abreast of financial regulations and ensure model compliance. Document methodologies, code, and findings meticulously for reproducibility and knowledge sharing. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong emphasis on financial modeling, risk management, or quantitative finance. Proven expertise in statistical modeling, time series analysis, and machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning). Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, including relevant data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, pandas, NumPy). Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop). Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities. Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience in deploying machine learning models into production environments. Familiarity with financial markets, instruments, and regulatory frameworks. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, fast-paced environment. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
