The Marketing Applied Sciences team is dedicated to crafting analytics-driven solutions that empower GM Marketing Organizations in achieving their business objectives. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will collaborate with a talented, multi-disciplinary team focused on designing, developing, and deploying analytic models that enhance marketing strategies. Your knowledge in marketing analytics methodologies, particularly in inferential and prescriptive methods, will be essential. Experience with website, email, and media measurement is highly valued.

In this role, you will closely engage with members of the Marketing Applied Sciences team and key stakeholders within GM's Marketing organization to facilitate objective performance evaluations and optimize media strategies. Your work will involve researching and developing advanced marketing models, extracting insights, and creating scalable products across owned and paid channels. Be ready to contribute to a team dedicated to delivering innovative, consumer-centric, and prescriptive solutions, especially as GM transitions to electric vehicles.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with a diverse, cross-functional team to implement impactful, data-driven solutions that address business challenges within vehicle brand marketing, ensuring that deliverables meet business requirements and timelines.
  • Bring contextual business knowledge and expertise in advertising and media, familiarizing yourself with marketing media measurement techniques including site/clickstream analysis, A/B testing, and industry measurement platforms.
  • Partner with CRM, Marketing, and Data Science teams to design and execute sophisticated measurement frameworks that assess campaign effectiveness, incremental revenue impact, and consumer engagement throughout various lifecycle stages.
  • Utilize advanced data-driven modeling techniques to inform decision-making and resolve complex business issues by preprocessing multisource data and effectively presenting information with data visualization techniques.
  • Exhibit strong capabilities in leveraging data, analytics, and insights to drive business impact.
  • Maintain a mindset of curious inquiry, consistently asking 'why' and suggesting experiments aimed at generating incremental impact.
  • Effectively communicate findings by articulating a succinct, data-driven narrative tailored to diverse stakeholders, from analysts to senior executives.
  • Apply advanced modeling and analytics techniques to analyze customer journey data across CRM channels, including email, messaging, and digital platforms, to optimize customer acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Master's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a data scientist or in a related role, focusing on the development, deployment, and monitoring of large analytic datasets and machine learning models.
  • At least 2 years of experience in CRM, marketing analytics, or lifecycle management.
  • Expertise in fundamental statistical concepts to inform the selection of appropriate modeling techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods for campaign measurement, including uplift/net lift modeling and causal inference.
  • Proficiency in Python/R for modeling and SQL/Spark for data management, using frameworks like Pandas, StatsModels, PYMC, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark/ML, sklearn, and numpy.
  • A demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously without compromising quality.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • A Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Marketing Science, Econometrics, Statistics, Psychometrics, (Bio)Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a similar quantitative field.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms like Azure, especially with Databricks.
  • Familiarity with advanced methods such as customer lifetime value modeling, media mix modeling (MMM), multi-touch attribution (MTA), and various regression techniques.
  • Previous experience in paid, earned, and owned media and/or marketing analytics.

The salary range for this role is $129,400 to $198,400, with actual compensation based on relevant factors. As part of a performance-based incentive program, bonuses may also be available. This position is remote, and selected candidates can work from anywhere in the country without the need to report to a GM worksite unless directed otherwise.
