Job Description

Our client, a leading innovator in data analytics, is seeking a talented Senior Data Scientist specializing in Machine Learning to join their dynamic team in **Chicago, Illinois, US**. This role is critical in developing and deploying advanced machine learning models that drive business insights and solutions across various domains. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in machine learning algorithms, coupled with extensive practical experience in building, validating, and deploying predictive models in a production environment. You will be responsible for identifying business challenges that can be addressed through data science and machine learning, defining project scope, and leading the end-to-end development process.

Key responsibilities include leveraging large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights, designing and implementing sophisticated machine learning models (e.g., classification, regression, clustering, deep learning), and performing rigorous model evaluation and validation. You will develop and maintain data pipelines, ensure data quality, and work closely with data engineers to optimize data infrastructure. Collaboration with business stakeholders, product managers, and software engineers is essential to understand requirements, integrate models into applications, and communicate findings effectively. This role requires staying current with the latest advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence, exploring new techniques, and assessing their applicability to business problems. You will also contribute to the development of data science best practices and mentor junior data scientists. A Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field is required. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong focus on machine learning, is essential. Proven experience with programming languages such as Python or R, and expertise in machine learning libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras) is mandatory. Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is highly desirable. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and MLOps practices is a plus. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills are required. Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, are crucial. Experience in leading data science projects and mentoring junior team members is highly valued.
