Position Purpose:
The Senior Director of Risk Management will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization's enterprise-wide strategy for evaluating insured risks across various insurance lines. This position will be responsible for identifying the necessity for coverage and limits, setting effective risk transfer objectives, and optimizing the use of insurance markets, self-insured retentions, deductibles, captive insurance programs, and risk management information systems (RMIS).
Key Responsibilities:
- 40% - Policy Development and Compliance: Lead the enhancement and operationalization of compliance policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to all insurance capital and regulatory requirements while collaborating with safety, legal, and finance leaders to communicate the benefits and implications of insurance programs. Effectively procure and utilize efficient risk management systems.
- 30% - Risk Program Leadership: Provide strategic direction to the Risk Management Department, serving as the primary contact for the insurance industry, including brokers and market representatives. Inspire, develop, and mentor risk management staff to foster a high-performing team.
- 30% - Ongoing Risk Assessment and Monitoring: Conduct continuous evaluations of insurable exposures and assess the balance between insurance, self-insurance, and captive utilization to ensure optimal risk coverage.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- This position typically reports to the Vice President, Legal.
- This role will oversee up to 3 direct reports.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional overnight travel required, estimated at 5% to 20% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- The role primarily involves sitting in a comfortable position, with occasional opportunities to move about. Rarely, the need to lift light items may arise.
Working Conditions:
- This position is generally based in a comfortable indoor setting, with infrequent exposure to unpleasant conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A degree in Business or Risk Management.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AIC are a plus.
Minimum Education:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field is required.
Preferred Education:
- A bachelor's degree or similar qualification in a relevant field is preferred.
Minimum Years of Work Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience is required.
Preferred Years of Work Experience:
- 10 years of experience is preferred.
Minimum Leadership Experience:
- No specific leadership experience required.

- None required, but experience leading teams is advantageous.
