IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is seeking a SENIOR ELECTRICAL /CONTROLS ENGINEER for our client in Atlanta, GA.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical / Controls Engineer to support the development of engineering and construction packages for facility expansions and new build projects. This role will lead the specification and procurement of instrumentation and control systems supporting process control, monitoring, and automation infrastructure.
This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Design and modify process control and instrumentation systems for new and existing facilities.
Specify discrete, analog, and networked control solutions for industrial automation environments.
Develop engineering specifications, bid documentation, and construction estimates.
Review vendor and supplier designs to ensure compliance with licensor requirements, applicable codes, and project specifications.
Establish and maintain instrumentation standards across multiple facilities.
Develop maintenance, inspection, and commissioning procedures for instrumentation and control systems.
Participate in Management of Change (MOC), PHA action reviews, construction information requests, and change order processes.
Support process safety management (PSM) environments through design, integration, testing, and startup of control systems.
Assist with permitting activities at the local, state, and federal levels.
Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and coordinate with vendors and engineering partners.
Design and specify electrical and automation infrastructure, including:
Occasional travel to company or vendor locations may be required (approximately 10%).
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
Experience
10+ years of PLC programming and controls development in process or manufacturing environments.
Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix, Codesys, and Siemens TIA Portal platforms.
7+ years designing electrical control, motor control, and heater control panels.
7+ years using AutoCAD Electrical.
7+ years of field installation and construction support experience.
Strong working knowledge of P&IDs and process control diagrams.
Familiarity with NEC, UL, and CSA electrical standards and industrial construction practices.
Experience working in PSM-covered facilities.
Experience with Management of Change (MOC) and continuous improvement programs.
Experience with industrial communication protocols such as:
Experience with 480V industrial power systems, with exposure to medium voltage systems (4160V+) preferred.
Self-motivated with strong initiative and problem-solving ability.
Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
Comfortable working in fast-paced, collaborative industrial environments.
Experience coordinating with external engineering firms, vendors, and contractors.
Strong interest in manufacturing processes and operational improvement.
