Our client, a leader in renewable energy technology and infrastructure, is seeking an accomplished Senior Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join their team in Seattle, Washington, US . This role requires a dedicated, on-site presence to facilitate hands-on design, testing, and collaboration within our state-of-the-art facilities. You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical power systems for various applications, including grid-tied systems, microgrids, and energy storage solutions. Your expertise will be critical in developing system schematics, single-line diagrams, power distribution designs, and component specifications. Responsibilities include conducting power system studies, load flow analysis, short circuit calculations, and protection coordination studies. You will also oversee the selection of electrical components, ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE), and manage the electrical aspects of project execution from concept to commissioning. Collaboration with mechanical engineers, project managers, and field teams is essential to ensure integrated and efficient system designs. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in power electronics, AC/DC systems, and a thorough understanding of grid interconnection requirements. Proficiency with electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, AutoCAD Electrical) is required. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with strong communication abilities, are paramount. Key Responsibilities: Design and engineer electrical power systems for various applications, including renewable energy projects and energy storage systems. Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams. Perform power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, transient stability, and protection coordination. Specify and select electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, generators, inverters, and batteries. Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical codes, standards (NEC, IEEE, IEC), and project requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, civil) and project management. Support the procurement and construction phases, providing technical assistance and resolving design queries. Perform site visits for system commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting. Develop technical specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Stay updated on new technologies and industry trends in power systems engineering. Qualifications: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in electrical power systems design. In-depth knowledge of power system analysis, protection, and control. Proficiency with electrical engineering design and simulation software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, SKM, MATLAB/Simulink, AutoCAD Electrical). Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind) and energy storage solutions is highly desirable. Strong understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant industry standards. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred.
