Responsibilities:
- Conceive of and specify system level control architecture for new products.
- Create schematic designs for circuit boards that are used in our optical instrumentation products.
Functions on these boards vary but may include motion control (steppers and servo), laser diode control, incandescent source control, UART and CANbus communications, displays, microcontroller, and interfacing to various input devices.
- Maintain configuration control of all circuit boards.
- Lay out circuit boards and produce fabrication packages.
- Test and troubleshoot boards.
- Specify cable harness designs and work with mechanical designers to create drawings.
- Provide guidance to Production regarding best practices for integrating electronics.
- Produce documentation (design records and work instructions where applicable).
- Shepherd products through the CE certification process as needed.

Qualifications
Qualification AND Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or another related field.
- At least 5 years' experience with schematic design and board layouts.
- Strong hands-on skills (soldering, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers etc.)
- Ability to write firmware and/or PC applications for testing boards is a plus.
- Experience with FPGAs is a plus.
- Good understanding of mitigation of susceptibility and emissions is a plus.
- Must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Ability to form good working relationships and lead clients to good decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively in a dynamic environment.
