As a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Digital Hardware Design, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of embedded digital hardware for our Software Defined Radios (SDR) and accessories. Reporting to a Senior Engineering Manager, you will oversee the entire hardware lifecycle—from conceptualization through manufacturing to deployment. This role offers the opportunity to tackle complex integration challenges in a collaborative atmosphere while ensuring our systems exceed rigorous performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • High-Speed Digital Protocols: Leverage your technical expertise in the design and integration of embedded microprocessors, including ARM Cores and advanced memory interfaces.
  • Design Simulation & Analysis: Utilize tools like LTSpice, HyperLynx, and MATLAB to conduct simulations and analyze system performance.
  • Advanced Architecture & PCB Design: Lead the entire design process, including requirement analysis and intricate schematic captures using Mentor VX/DxDesigner.
  • Verification & Validation: Execute comprehensive test plans on both subsystem and system levels using lab equipment to troubleshoot and rectify hardware issues.
  • Compliance & Reliability Engineering: Design hardware that meets MIL-STD-461 standards and adheres to IPC guidelines to ensure reliability in critical environments.
  • Security Clearance: Must possess the ability to acquire and maintain a US Security Clearance.

Qualifications Required:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6 years relevant experience (or 4 years with a Master's degree), or over 10 years of hands-on experience in Digital Design in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Skills:

  • Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with SDR architectures, embedded software, and configuration management tools, such as Agile.
  • SDR & RF Architecture Expertise: A deep understanding of SDR architectures and interactions between digital and RF systems.
  • Hardware-Software Integration Skills: Experience using scripting languages like Python or VHDL for design analysis automation and troubleshooting facilitation.
  • Configuration & Lifecycle Management: Proficient in using Agile PLM software to streamline product data management and manufacturing processes.
  • Diagnostic Tool Use: Knowledge of Boundary Scan tools (JTAG) for testing high-density PCBAs with limited access.
  • Systems Thinking: Ability to foresee the impacts of design decisions on thermal management and software performance.

The salary range for this role in New York state is $90,500 - $168,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation; final offers may vary based on experience and location. L3Harris provides a robust benefits package, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) matching, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, generous leave policies, and company holidays.
