Our client, a leading engineering consultancy firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in power systems to join their growing team in Washington, D.C., US . This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working remotely part-time while collaborating with colleagues in the office. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of complex electrical power systems for a variety of projects, including infrastructure, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of power distribution, protection, and control, as well as proficiency in industry-standard modeling and simulation software.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of electrical power systems, including distribution, protection, grounding, and lighting. Perform load flow analysis, short circuit calculations, and protection coordination studies using ETAP, PSS/E, or similar software. Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, and other electrical drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP). Specify electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, generators, and UPS systems. Conduct site inspections and investigations to assess existing conditions and gather data for design. Prepare technical specifications, reports, and cost estimates for electrical systems. Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE), and client requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (structural, mechanical, plumbing) to ensure integrated design solutions. Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors during the construction phase. Provide technical support to project managers and construction teams. Mentor junior electrical engineers and provide technical guidance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license in the relevant state (or ability to obtain within 6 months). Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in electrical power systems design. Extensive experience with power system analysis software (ETAP, PSS/E, SKM). Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP for electrical design. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant industry standards. Experience with renewable energy integration, microgrids, or utility-scale projects is a plus. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and present findings. Experience working in a hybrid remote/office environment.
