Our client, a leading innovator in renewable energy solutions based in San Diego, California , is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems. This role is integral to the design, development, and implementation of advanced power electronics, grid integration solutions, and energy storage systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead complex projects, provide technical guidance to junior engineers, and contribute to the overall technological advancement of the company. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in electrical engineering principles, coupled with extensive hands-on experience in power system design and analysis.
Key responsibilities include designing and specifying electrical components and systems for power conversion, energy storage, and grid interconnection applications. You will perform detailed power system analysis, including load flow, fault studies, and transient stability analysis, using industry-standard software tools. The Senior Electrical Engineer will also be responsible for developing and testing prototypes, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC). This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution from concept to production. You will also play a key role in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues, and in documenting design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports. Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, and staying abreast of emerging technologies and trends in the power systems domain, will be critical aspects of this position. Contribution to intellectual property generation through patent applications is also encouraged.
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, with a Master's degree or PhD being highly preferred. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a significant focus on power systems design, is required. Demonstrated expertise in power electronics, AC/DC converters, inverters, battery management systems, and grid interconnection technologies is essential. Proficiency in simulation tools such as ETAP, PSS/E, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar is mandatory. Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and control algorithms for power applications is a strong asset. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead technical initiatives. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus. Join a pioneering team driving the future of energy.
