Our client, a globally recognized leader in renewable energy solutions, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join their innovative team. This crucial role will be based at their state-of-the-art facility in Seattle, Washington . The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical systems, focusing on power generation, distribution, and control for cutting-edge energy projects. This position demands extensive technical expertise, a strong analytical mindset, and a commitment to advancing sustainable energy technologies.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and test electrical systems for power generation, transmission, and distribution applications. Create detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control logic for power systems. Perform load calculations, power flow analysis, and fault studies using specialized software. Specify electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, generators, motors, and protection relays. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC, IEC) and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and construction personnel, throughout the project lifecycle. Provide technical expertise and guidance on electrical engineering best practices. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues during project execution and in operational systems. Develop and execute testing and commissioning plans for electrical power systems. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Conduct site visits and provide engineering support during the installation and commissioning phases. Stay current with advancements in power systems technology, renewable energy integration, and electrical engineering practices. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the electrical engineering department. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methodologies to improve system performance and efficiency. Participate in safety reviews and ensure all designs meet stringent safety standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on power systems design and analysis. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State or the ability to obtain one is highly desirable. In-depth knowledge of power system fundamentals, including AC/DC theory, circuit protection, and grounding. Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, SKM). Experience with control systems, SCADA, and automation for power infrastructure. Familiarity with renewable energy technologies (e.g., solar, wind) and their integration into the grid. Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Experience in project management is a plus. This role requires the candidate to work full-time from our offices located in Seattle, Washington .
