Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join their innovative team in Phoenix, Arizona . This is a critical role responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of advanced power systems for cutting-edge projects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, power electronics, grid integration, and renewable energy technologies.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design and analysis of complex electrical power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution components. Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control system architectures. Perform load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and transient stability simulations using industry-standard software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD). Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators, and protection relays. Oversee the integration of renewable energy sources (solar, wind) into existing power grids. Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of power system components and integrated systems. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues, ensuring reliability and safety. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and site personnel. Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC), and regulatory requirements. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership. Contribute to the development of new technologies and innovative solutions in the power systems domain. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical power systems engineering. Demonstrated expertise in power system analysis, design, and simulation. Proficiency with power system simulation software. Strong knowledge of power generation technologies, grid operations, and protection schemes. Experience with renewable energy integration is a significant plus. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable. This role requires on-site presence to effectively manage project intricacies and collaborate directly with engineering teams and field personnel.
