Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Phoenix, Arizona, US , focusing on power systems design. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, including power distribution, control systems, and protection schemes. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing electrical systems for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a meticulous approach to problem-solving, and the ability to lead technical aspects of projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and construction personnel, to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. This is an on-site position.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and motor control systems. Create detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD software. Perform load calculations, voltage drop analyses, and short circuit studies. Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials. Develop specifications and technical documentation for electrical systems. Collaborate with project managers and clients to define project requirements and scope. Oversee the testing and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and safety. Conduct site visits and inspections to verify installation and adherence to design. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical design and installation issues. Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE), and regulations. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff. Participate in project review meetings and contribute to design optimization. Research and recommend new technologies and methodologies for electrical system design.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems. Proven experience in designing electrical systems for industrial, commercial, or utility applications. Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and simulation tools. Strong knowledge of power distribution, protection, and control systems. Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable. Experience with renewable energy systems or grid integration is a plus.
