Our client, a leader in innovative energy solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems Design to join their growing team in Miami, Florida, US . This role is critical in the development and implementation of cutting-edge electrical infrastructure for complex projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in electrical engineering principles coupled with extensive practical experience in power system analysis, design, and testing. Responsibilities will include leading the design of electrical systems for high-voltage applications, substations, and renewable energy integration projects. You will perform detailed power flow studies, short circuit analysis, stability studies, and protection coordination using industry-standard software. Developing detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications for electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and generators, will be a key part of your role. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEEE). This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and project management departments, to ensure the successful execution of projects from conception to commissioning. You will provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. Site visits for inspections, testing, and troubleshooting may be required. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate complex technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential. Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Florida or the ability to obtain one. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical power systems engineering. Proven experience in power system design, analysis, and protection. Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, SKM PowerTools). In-depth knowledge of relevant electrical codes, standards, and best practices. Experience with renewable energy integration (solar, wind) is a significant plus. Strong understanding of high-voltage equipment and substation design. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
