Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C) Designer/Checker is a critical role responsible for leading the development of design layouts and producing high-quality finished drawings. This position involves working on custom projects, engaging in 3D modeling, crafting design sketches, providing engineering support, and delivering complete layouts and final drawings. You will have the opportunity to lead discipline design efforts and coordinate both internal and external resources to ensure project success.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with the Squad Leader to determine optimal strategies for meeting project requirements and facilitating training opportunities.
  • Support junior drafters by providing guidance on questions and issues encountered during projects.
  • Prepare and manage project scope, budget, and schedule, ensuring all team members adhere to these parameters.
  • Execute both basic and complex design layouts with precision.
  • Create new drawings and meticulously check existing ones for accuracy and completeness.
  • Implement feedback from review processes and make necessary corrections to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Conduct thorough checks for interferences, safety concerns, constructability, and overall quality assurance.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support team objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred; however, equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Electrical and I&C design in the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, or Chemical industries.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with the AVEVA platform is highly desirable.
  • Skilled in modeling cable trays and electrical equipment enclosures, preferably with AVEVA E3D.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Proven experience in industrial power distribution projects, particularly in medium voltage to low voltage systems, preferably within the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Understanding of equipment fabrication, purchasing, and field installation processes.
  • Familiarity with safety in design practices is a bonus.
  • Experience with cable sizing, conduit, and cable tray design preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic ampacity and voltage drop calculations is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate work.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and travel as required.
