About the Role
As a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer, you will serve as a technical lead overseeing complex electrical and controls design projects. You will bridge the gap between third-party engineering partners and internal operations to ensure all infrastructure expansions meet rigorous safety, budget, and performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Direct the lifecycle of facility projects, from initial scope and cost estimation to final commissioning and construction support.
- Manage external engineering firms to ensure design deliverables align with project schedules and technical specifications.
- Evaluate and approve critical vendor equipment, including turbine packages, switchgear, and complex instrumentation systems.
- Optimize system reliability by reviewing past project performance and integrating lessons learned into future design strategies.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineering staff to foster team growth and department-wide excellence.
- Ensure all project designs strictly adhere to regulatory, environmental, and health and safety compliance protocols.
- Oversee the integration of control systems, including PLC-based architectures and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in engineering design and project management.
- Expertise in power distribution, including 480V motor control centers and 4160V switchgear.
- Proficiency in industrial control systems, PID loops, and instrumentation such as pressure and temperature transmitters.
- Strong knowledge of grounding, cathodic protection, and conduit sizing standards.
Preferred Skills
- Proven track record of managing third-party engineering contractors.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms or similar industrial automation systems.
- Advanced understanding of electrical safety codes and regulatory compliance in industrial environments.
