We are partnering with a leading organisation to hire a Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and manage scalable infrastructure supporting critical business systems.

You will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing virtualization and cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across systems. This role requires a strong mix of hands-on engineering, project ownership, and continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, planning, and deployment of virtualization infrastructure (e.g., VMware, KVM)
  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycle including architecture, implementation, and operations
  • Perform system administration, capacity planning, and provisioning to support business needs
  • Ensure high availability and service continuity, including backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning
  • Act as a technical escalation point, troubleshooting incidents and driving root cause resolution
  • Implement and enforce governance, standards, and monitoring across infrastructure
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure infrastructure security, compliance, and threat detection
  • Support CI/CD, automation, and system integration for infrastructure workflows
  • Work closely with application teams to optimize performance and resource utilization
  • Partner with cloud providers to ensure service delivery meets SLAs and performance metrics
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and drive innovation in infrastructure design

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field
  • Strong experience in virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, RHOVE)
  • Hands-on experience in Linux and Windows Server administration
  • Good understanding of network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers)
  • Knowledge of internet services (DNS, DHCP, IPAM)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or similar)
  • Experience with APIs (REST), scripting, and infrastructure automation
  • Understanding of cloud-native architecture and Kubernetes
  • Exposure to security policies, compliance, and infrastructure hardening
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
