The Senior Financial Risk Analyst plays a critical role in calculating rates for both renewing and new complex group Dental and Vision accounts. In this position, you will tackle various assignments that involve evaluating moderately complex to complex financial data requiring in-depth assessments.

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Underwriting, you will produce diverse financial reports for large accounts while providing essential insights and justifications to other teams within the organization and clients. Your responsibilities will also include estimating expenses and analyzing financial documents accurately, contributing to the strategic direction of the department.

  • Recommend and communicate product offerings and competitive pricing tailored to client needs.
  • Review contracts and certificates, collaborating with Product and Compliance departments to assess plan compatibility for takeovers.
  • Utilize manual rating systems alongside your experience and available data to make informed pricing decisions.
  • Engage in negotiations with Sales and Account Management to craft proposals for both new and existing business, addressing risk, plan, and pricing concerns directly with agents, brokers, and clients as necessary.
  • Oversee the administrative processing of cases by leveraging various underwriting tools, systems, and databases for thorough evaluations.
  • Document and communicate underwriting decisions effectively.
  • Exhibit strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Mentor and coach team members in developing their technical skills, and provide necessary training for sales and/or underwriting staff.
  • Participate in projects aimed at enhancing underwriting processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in underwriting Dental and Vision rated groups, with expertise in financial and risk analysis.
  • Deep understanding of risk pool management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience with additional lines of group coverage, such as Life and Disability benefits.

Additional Information:

This is a remote position. To ensure that you can work effectively, your home internet service should meet the following standards:

  • A minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; a wired cable or DSL connection is preferred.
  • Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections may be used only if approved.
  • Employees working from home in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will receive bi-weekly internet expense reimbursement.
  • Humana will provide necessary telephone equipment to fulfill business requirements.
  • Ensure a dedicated workspace free from interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Compensation Range: $78,400 - $107,800 per year, subject to variation based on individual experience, credentials, and geographic location. This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus incentive plan.
