GovCIO is seeking a skilled High Performance Computing (HPC) Engineer to join our dynamic team focused on advanced scientific research and data analytics. This is a remote opportunity and an exciting chance to contribute to innovative computing solutions for the healthcare sector.

Role Summary

The HPC Engineer plays a crucial role in optimizing HPC environments that facilitate cutting-edge research and computational modeling. Collaborating closely with researchers, data scientists, and system administrators, this position ensures that HPC resources are effectively configured and utilized to drive impactful research outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with researchers and scientists to enhance the performance of applications and workflows within HPC environments.
  • Analyze computational workloads and offer guidance on parallelization strategies, job scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Support and fine-tune HPC cluster environments, including compute nodes, GPUs, and high-speed networks.
  • Assist in porting, compiling, and optimizing scientific codes using parallel programming models such as MPI, OpenMP, and CUDA.
  • Monitor HPC system performance metrics to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Work alongside system administrators to implement improvements in cluster architecture and storage performance.
  • Provide user support and technical consulting to research teams utilizing HPC resources.
  • Develop documentation and best practices to empower users to harness HPC capabilities effectively.
  • Integrate HPC resources with large-scale data storage and analytics platforms to support data-intensive research.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through testing, benchmarking, and the adoption of new technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related technical field.
  • 15+ years of experience in HPC environments or equivalent expertise.
  • Proficiency in supporting scientific computing applications and large-scale research workloads.
  • Understanding of GPU computing, containerization (Docker/Singularity), and modern HPC architectures.
  • Strong skills in performance tuning and computational optimization.
  • Excellent communication abilities, able to convey technical concepts effectively to diverse teams.
  • Experience in collaborative research environments is highly desirable.

Salary Range
