Who are we?

Cohere is the leading security-first enterprise AI company. We build cutting-edge foundation AI models and end-to-end products that are designed to solve real-world business problems.

We’re training and deploying frontier models for enterprises who are building AI systems. We believe that our work is instrumental to the widespread adoption of AI and we are looking for folks that want to be part of that.

We obsess over what we build. Each one of us is responsible for contributing to increasing the capabilities of our models and the value they drive for our customers. Cohere is a team of researchers, engineers, designers, and more, who are all passionate about their craft.

We are a global technology company co-headquartered in Toronto and San Francisco, with key offices in London, New York City, Montreal, Seoul, Germany and Paris. Join us!

WHY THIS ROLE?

We're hiring an HR Business Partner to help scale Cohere through an exciting phase of growth.

You'll partner with our Non-Technical organization, supporting teams across Finance, Legal, People, Go-to-Market, and Corporate Functions. Working alongside a Senior HR Business Partner, you'll help leaders build high-performing teams while gaining exposure to some of the most interesting organizational challenges in one of the world's leading AI companies.

This isn't a traditional "policy and process" HRBP role. At Cohere, HRBPs are trusted partners who help shape how teams scale, managers grow, and organizations perform. You'll contribute across organizational design, leadership effectiveness, performance, talent strategy, employee experience, and organizational health in a fast-moving, globally distributed environment.

If you love building, enjoy working closely with leaders, and thrive in ambiguity, you'll feel at home here.

YOU'LL THRIVE IF YOU:

  • Build trusted relationships with leaders and teams
  • Take ownership and exercise sound judgment
  • Balance high standards with empathy
  • Enjoy fast-moving, evolving environments
  • Solve complex people and organizational challenges
  • Move comfortably between strategy and execution
  • Communicate exceptionally well, especially in async environments
  • Bring a collaborative, low-ego approach to your work

YOU'LL HELP DRIVE:

  • Organizational design and team effectiveness
  • Manager coaching and leadership capability
  • Performance, talent, and succession discussions
  • Employee engagement and retention
  • The continued evolution of our People function

WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:

  • Has several years of HRBP or People Partner experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Has partnered with business functions such as Finance, Legal, People, Go-to-Market, or other corporate organizations
  • Has experience in startup, scale-up, or other high-growth companies
  • Has supported globally distributed organizations
  • Is an exceptional written communicator who thrives in async environments
  • Is excited to learn, grow, and take on increasing ownership over time

This is an exceptional opportunity to develop as a strategic HR Business Partner while helping shape the growth of one of the world's leading AI companies.

Location: This role can be based remotely or from one of our office locations—there is no minimum in-office requirement. We care most about hiring exceptional people regardless of location. As you'll be partnering primarily with teams based in the Eastern Time Zone, we're looking for someone who can provide significant overlap with Eastern working hours to enable close collaboration.

Cohere is committed to fair and transparent pay practices. The salary range listed for this role reflects the expected base compensation. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. $80,000 - $150,000 USD
