Senior Industrial Automation Engineer

Our client, a leading manufacturer of advanced industrial machinery, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Industrial Automation Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining sophisticated automated systems for their production facilities. You will be responsible for developing control system architectures, programming PLCs, HMIs, and robotics, and ensuring the seamless integration of various automation components. Key duties include troubleshooting complex technical issues, optimizing existing automated processes for efficiency and reliability, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, electrical) and production staff to deliver robust solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of industrial control systems, programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text, C++), and experience with SCADA and HMI software. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to manage projects from conception through to completion. You will play a vital role in enhancing manufacturing capabilities, reducing operational costs, and ensuring the highest quality standards. A strong background in electrical engineering or a related field, coupled with hands-on experience in industrial automation, is essential. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement industrial automation systems and control logic for manufacturing equipment. Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, robots, and other automation hardware. Develop and maintain system documentation, including electrical schematics, P&IDs, and operation manuals. Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and control system issues in a timely manner. Optimize automated processes to improve efficiency, throughput, and product quality. Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers on system design and integration. Conduct site surveys and install/commission automation systems at client facilities. Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel. Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations during system design and operation. Stay current with emerging automation technologies and best practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial automation engineering. Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon) and HMI/SCADA software (e.g., FactoryTalk View, Ignition, WinCC). Experience with robotics programming (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB). Strong understanding of electrical systems, control theory, and industrial networking protocols. Experience with motion control and servo systems. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and technical drawings. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to travel to various manufacturing sites as needed. This position is based at our client's facility in Denver, Colorado, US and requires on-site presence.
