Position Overview
The Operational Excellence Consultant works independently, leads and deliver structured improvement initiatives that enhance performance, efficiency, and stability across manufacturing operations. This role drives measurable impact by translating strategic manufacturing excellence targets into executable projects, ensuring sustainable gains in productivity, lead time, cost, and quality.
By combining strong industrial engineering expertise with project ownership, this position strengthens the Manufacturing Excellence competence center’s delivery capability and contributes directly to operational competitiveness and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage operational excellence projects from scoping through implementation to ensure delivery of defined performance, cost, and efficiency targets.
- Analyze production systems, workloads, capacity, and material flows to identify structural improvement opportunities and define optimized future state concepts.
- Develop and implement sustainable industrial engineering solutions including line balancing, layout optimization, process standardization, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Drive structured root cause analyses and ensure corrective actions result in measurable and validated performance gains.
- Quantify financial impact and validate savings related to productivity, lead time reduction, and headcount optimization.
- Manage project timelines, milestones, stakeholder alignment, and risk mitigation to ensure reliable execution and transparency.
- Develop and standardize Manufacturing Excellence methods, tools, and KPI frameworks to strengthen operational performance management.
- Collaborate with operations, logistics, planning, quality, and maintenance to ensure cross functional alignment and successful implementation of improvements.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, operations excellence, or continuous improvement roles.
- Proven experience leading improvement initiatives or managing defined projects within production environments.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable performance improvements such as productivity increase, lead time reduction, or cost savings.
Certifications or Specialized Training
- Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.
- Formal training in time study methods, MTM, or work measurement systems.
- Project management training or certification preferred.
- Strong expertise in line balancing, workload analysis, capacity planning, layout optimization, and production system design.
- Ability to independently structure and lead root cause analyses and translate findings into sustainable solutions.
- Advanced understanding of production KPIs such as OEE, Lead Time, Throughput, Productivity, and Cost per Unit.
- Experience quantifying financial impact and validating efficiency gains.
- Solid understanding of digitalization concepts in manufacturing and data driven performance management.
