Our client, a leading innovator in advanced manufacturing, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Industrial Engineer to optimize their production systems and enhance operational efficiency. This role, based in our dynamic San Diego, California facility, offers a hybrid work model, allowing for a balance between on-site process analysis and strategic planning. You will play a crucial part in streamlining workflows, improving productivity, and implementing lean manufacturing principles.
As a Senior Industrial Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing current manufacturing processes, identifying bottlenecks, and developing data-driven solutions to improve throughput, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Your expertise will be applied to designing efficient layouts, optimizing material flow, implementing automation solutions, and establishing performance metrics. You will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support the company's strategic goals. This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of lean manufacturing, and the ability to lead complex improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and layouts to maximize efficiency and minimize waste. Develop and implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement. Design and optimize material handling systems and supply chain logistics within the manufacturing environment. Conduct time and motion studies, capacity planning, and production forecasting. Identify opportunities for automation and technology adoption to enhance productivity and quality. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop reporting systems to track operational performance. Lead cross-functional teams on improvement projects, from conception to implementation. Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products. Develop training materials and provide guidance to production staff on new processes and best practices. Ensure adherence to safety standards and ergonomic best practices in all process designs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a focus on manufacturing operations. Proven experience in implementing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives. Strong knowledge of process analysis tools, statistical methods, and simulation software. Experience with CAD software for layout design and material flow analysis. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strong understanding of supply chain and operations management principles. Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab).
