Senior Industrial Engineer - Operations Optimization

Our client, a leader in manufacturing and logistics, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Industrial Engineer in **Atlanta, Georgia, US**. This role is essential for driving operational efficiency, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and optimizing production workflows across our facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, extensive experience in process improvement methodologies, and a proven ability to lead complex projects from inception to completion. You will be responsible for analyzing existing operations, identifying bottlenecks, and designing innovative solutions to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall performance. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with operations, quality, and management teams to achieve strategic business objectives.

Responsibilities:

Analyze current production processes, workflows, and operational data to identify areas for improvement. Design and implement lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen events, and Value Stream Mapping. Develop and optimize material handling systems, layout designs, and workstation ergonomics. Utilize simulation software and data analysis tools to model process changes and predict outcomes. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and continuously monitor operational performance. Lead cross-functional teams on improvement projects, ensuring timely and successful implementation. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials for new processes. Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to optimize inventory management and distribution. Conduct time and motion studies to improve efficiency and reduce cycle times. Present findings and recommendations to senior management, justifying proposed changes with data and business cases. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards in all process designs. Mentor junior industrial engineers and share best practices. Research and recommend new technologies and methodologies to enhance operational capabilities. Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans for operational excellence.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial engineering, focusing on manufacturing or operations. In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies. Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Arena, FlexSim) and CAD tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data. Excellent project management and leadership capabilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is beneficial. Proven track record of successfully implementing process improvements that yielded measurable results. Certification as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is a strong asset.
