Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Industrial Engineer to focus on process improvement within their manufacturing and operational facilities in Phoenix, Arizona, US . This role is critical in analyzing and redesigning workflows, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and driving efficiency gains across production lines and support operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, deep knowledge of industrial engineering methodologies, and a proven ability to implement sustainable improvements in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Analysis and Design: Analyze existing manufacturing processes, workflows, and layouts to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for optimization. Design and implement improved processes and systems.
  • Lean Implementation: Lead the application of Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping) to reduce waste, improve quality, and enhance productivity.
  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify root causes of problems and develop data-driven solutions. Utilize statistical tools and techniques for process control and improvement.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to efficiency, throughput, quality, and cost. Monitor performance and report on progress.
  • Project Management: Manage process improvement projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely execution and successful implementation of changes.
  • Equipment and Technology Evaluation: Assess the need for new equipment or technology to enhance process efficiency and product quality. Participate in the selection and implementation of new systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, quality assurance, maintenance, and management to implement changes and ensure buy-in. Provide training and support to staff on new processes and methodologies.
  • Cost Reduction: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through process optimization, waste reduction, and improved resource utilization.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials for optimized processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of experience as an Industrial Engineer, with a strong focus on process improvement in a manufacturing setting.
  • Methodologies: In-depth knowledge and practical application of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt certification highly desirable), and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in data analysis software.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with CAD software for layout design and proficiency in simulation software is a plus.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage projects, timelines, and resources effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning, quality control, and supply chain principles.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
