Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Industrial Process Engineer with expertise in automation to join their team on a fully remote basis. This role is critical for optimizing manufacturing processes through the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems. You will be responsible for analyzing existing production lines, identifying opportunities for automation, and developing solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in industrial engineering principles, coupled with extensive experience in automation technologies, robotics, and control systems.

Key responsibilities include leading automation projects from concept to completion, including requirements gathering, vendor selection, system integration, and validation. You will develop detailed process designs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications. A deep understanding of PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA systems, and industrial networking is essential. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex automated systems. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and R&D, will be crucial to ensure successful implementation and adoption of automation solutions. You will also be involved in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and providing training to operational staff. This is a remote-first position, requiring excellent communication skills, self-discipline, and the ability to manage projects effectively in a distributed team environment. Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial process engineering, with a significant focus on automation. Proven experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems. Proficiency with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI/SCADA systems. Strong understanding of robotics, motion control, and industrial networking protocols. Experience with simulation software for process optimization. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and schematics. Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective remote teamwork. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK.
