Job Description

Our client, a prominent leader in the industrial sector, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Industrial Process Improvement Engineer to join their innovative operations team in Chicago, Illinois . This critical role focuses on analyzing, optimizing, and streamlining production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality, and ensure operational excellence. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and advanced data analysis techniques. You will lead cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and implement sustainable process enhancements across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the identification, analysis, and implementation of process improvements across manufacturing and operational areas. Applying Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, JIT) to eliminate waste and improve workflow. Utilizing Six Sigma methodologies to reduce process variation and defects, achieving measurable improvements in quality and performance. Conducting time and motion studies, workflow analysis, and root cause investigations to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices to ensure consistent and efficient operations. Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting production data to identify trends, measure performance, and support data-driven decision-making. Managing and leading cross-functional improvement project teams, fostering collaboration and buy-in. Developing business cases for process improvement initiatives, including cost-benefit analysis. Training and mentoring plant personnel on continuous improvement methodologies and problem-solving techniques. Monitoring the effectiveness of implemented improvements and making necessary adjustments. Staying abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in industrial engineering and process optimization. Contributing to the development of operational strategies and long-term improvement plans. Ensuring all process changes comply with safety, environmental, and quality regulations.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or an MBA with an operations focus is preferred. A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a strong emphasis on process improvement and Lean/Six Sigma implementation, is required. Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification in Six Sigma is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully leading and implementing significant process improvement projects with measurable results. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and statistical analysis skills. Proficiency in process mapping tools, data analysis software (e.g., Minitab), and ERP systems. Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills are essential. Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization. Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in heavy industry or automotive, is a significant advantage.
