Job Overview:

We are on the lookout for an Instrumentation Engineer to join our Abqaiq plants operation departments, specifically the System Support Unit. This unit is vital for delivering proactive instrumentation, control, and safety systems support. As a key contributor, your focus will be on creating innovative instrumentation solutions that enhance asset reliability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed analytical assessments of instrumentation systems to address operational challenges.
  • Explore and implement emerging instrumentation and control technologies.
  • Serve as a specialist resource for asset integrity management and risk assessments.
  • Create Instrumentation and Control Plans (ICP) aligned with organizational objectives, detailing responsibilities and timelines.
  • Establish annual maintenance strategies based on ICP recommendations.
  • Analyze trends in instrumentation systems and conduct engineering studies to mitigate issues.
  • Continuously update the ICP based on maintenance schedules and system modifications.
  • Address instrumentation system obsolescence with relevant process owners.
  • Investigate system failures, turning insights from root cause analysis into actionable improvements.
  • Regularly update the instrumentation system risk register and conduct reviews after industry incidents.
  • Facilitate consultations regarding instrumentation and control system expertise.
  • Oversee modifications including calibration and replacements to maintain system integrity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
  • In-depth knowledge of instrumentation principles, measurement techniques, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems is essential.
  • Understanding of industry standards and codes including ISA, API, and IEC.
  • Practical experience in sectors like oil & gas, aerospace, and chemical processing.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills for collaboration and report preparation.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in instrumentation through continuous professional development.
