Position: Senior Investment Associate (Portfolio Management)

Position Description

The Senior Investment Associate located in San Francisco will be a part of a diverse group that now requires an additional team player who will have wide-ranging, client-facing responsibilities.

This multi-faceted role requires someone who is comfortable in our entrepreneurial environment as we develop our business, combined with the analytical and creative strengths required to implement our investment strategy. Meticulous attention to detail, ability to think critically, and an execution-oriented, positive attitude are key attributes we look for. Excellent written and verbal communication competencies are required for interacting with clients, third parties, and firm leadership.

  • Client Portfolio Management (50%): Support the management of individual client portfolios and relationships. The Senior Investment Associate’s primary objective is to maximize long-term client portfolio investment performance, subject to applicable portfolio constraints, and provide exceptional client service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Investment Strategy Development:

Leveraging insights from the Firm’s Central Research and Asset Class teams to prepare recommendations related to client portfolio asset allocation and external manager selection.

  • Portfolio Exposure Management:

Monitoring portfolio exposures on an ongoing basis. Rebalancing investments, as necessary, to ensure that the portfolio adheres to stated goals and constraints. Managing liquidity to meet capital requirements of the client.

  • Meeting Preparation/Participation:

Preparing materials for client portfolio update meetings. Supporting responding to client questions regarding managers, exposures, investment strategy, and operational matters.

  • Client Request Management:

Conducting ad-hoc analyses to respond to client requests related to, for example: external investment opportunities, debt issuance, charitable giving, and/or estate planning.

  • Team Development:

Managing, developing and mentoring junior team members who will support the Senior Investment Associate in their range of responsibilities.

  • Business Development (40%): Preparing pitch materials including evaluating existing portfolios, crafting Requests for Proposals, assisting with researching, identifying, and tracking prospective clients. Innovating new lines of business.
  • Investment Research (10%): Occasionally accountable for the investment due diligence process including sourcing and monitoring new investments and leading initial meetings in the research process. Responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses that require strong Excel modelling skills.
