The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on candidate to lead and collaborate in diverse teams, contributing to all facets of system integration such as design, analysis, testing, implementation, and validation. The right person will be a self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Main Responsibilities

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in system architecture and engineering, specifically around enterprise-level networking and security.
  • Recommend and implement optimized solutions to enhance planning and collaborate with project leads to select and approve tools and technologies for improved efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and resolve incidents for infrastructure on Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage systems within Google Cloud and AWS environments.
  • Support Kubernetes clusters and containers, troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Develop requirement-based technical solutions for new projects, facilitating their transition into production.
  • Evaluate, integrate, and prepare systems for operational use, including patches for rapid deployment.
  • Install and rebuild systems while configuring hardware and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Experienced with automation tools including Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Gather and analyze metrics and customer feedback to identify system requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend technologies that can enhance future capabilities.
  • Develop and execute test plans based on security and functional requirements.
  • Support innovative, cost-effective IPS/IDS protection systems.
  • Proficient in Unix Scripting languages such as Ruby, Perl, or advanced KSH scripting.
  • Operational knowledge of VMware vSphere ESXi, Virtual Center, Elasticsearch, Postgres, Google Cloud, and AWS.
  • Participate in due diligence activities including design reviews, proposal generation, and vendor negotiations.
  • Maintain and update existing applications, adding functionality as necessary.
  • Quickly develop new applications in response to business needs, ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Assess and improve existing applications for performance and dependencies.
  • Conduct application testing to validate features and ensure stability post-fix.
  • Mentor teammates in new technologies and best practices.
  • Provide rapid support to troubleshoot production equipment issues.

Candidate Requirements

  • 5+ years of Linux systems engineering experience (Redhat, CentOS, Rocky) with proven troubleshooting skills.
  • 3+ years of Kubernetes experience including helm chart development.
  • 3+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
  • 5+ years of Elasticsearch experience, including indexing, clustering, and troubleshooting.
  • 5+ years of automation experience using Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Knowledge of network operations and security techniques.
  • Availability for 24/7 support for network outages and maintenance work.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work with team members to resolve technical issues.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

The candidate must be a US Citizen with an active Department of Defense TOP SECRET clearance.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is based on current national data and may vary by location. Individual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors.

  • Salary range: $103,711 - $138,281 in specific states.
  • Salary range: $108,896 - $145,195 in other specified states.
  • Salary range: $114,082 - $152,109 in high-cost states.
